Capturing reflected light from a sampling surface

A system, comprising:

• a compound lens comprising at least two lenses disposed in a manner that provides for a focal plane at both a first end and a second end of the compound lens;
• a first light source configured to direct light toward the focal plane at the first end, a light beam from the first light source having an angle of bias from an optical center axis of the compound lens of greater than or equal to zero degrees and less than or equal to forty-five degrees;
• a second light source configured to direct light toward the focal plane at the first end, a light beam from the second light source having an angle of bias from the focal plane of less than or equal to forty-five degrees and greater than or equal to zero degrees;
• and
• an image capture device disposed at the second end and configured to capture light reflected from the focal plane at the first end.

A device, comprising:

• a compound lens comprising at least two lenses disposed in a manner that provides for a focal plane at both a first end and a second end of the compound lens;
• a first light source configured to direct light toward the focal plane at the first end, a light beam from the first light source having an angle of bias from an optical center axis of the compound lens of greater than or equal to zero degrees and less than or equal to forty-five degrees;
• a second light source configured to direct light toward the focal plane at the first end, a light beam from the second light source having an angle of bias from the focal plane at the first end of less than or equal to forty-five degrees and greater than or equal to zero degrees;
• an image capture device disposed at the second end and configured to capture light reflected from the focal plane at the first end to an image plane of the second end;
• and
• a casing configured to mitigate light infiltration from outside the casing to inside the casing.
