Abstract
A crop sprayer includes a pivoting axle suspension assembly that includes a bolster assembly secured between the frame rails of the main frame of the crop sprayer. The bolster assembly includes formed tube members that support a bearing structure for pivotably coupling a pivot pin of a pivot axle to the main frame. The tube members are curved downwardly from the main frame.
Claims17
A crop sprayer, comprising:
- a main frame including a first frame rail and a second frame rail;
- a support assembly including i) a first arcuate tubular member having a first tube end fixed in relation to said first frame rail, a second tube end fixed in relation to said second frame rail, and a first intermediate tube segment interposed between said first tube end and said second tube end, and ii) a second arcuate tubular member having a third tube end fixed relation to said first frame rail, a fourth tube end fixed in relation to said second frame rail, and a second intermediate tube segment interposed between said third tube end and said fourth tube end;
- a first bearing component fixed in relation to said first arcuate tubular member and said second arcuate tubular member;
- an axle assembly including i) an elongated axle component having a first axle end portion and a second axle end portion, and ii) a first wheel assembly secured to said first axle end portion, and iii) a second wheel assembly secured to said second axle end portion;
- and
- a second bearing component fixed in relation to said elongated axle component, said first bearing component and second bearing component being configured to cooperate with each other so that said axle assembly is pivotable in relation to said support assembly,
- wherein i) a first line intersects said first tube end and said second tube end, and ii) said first arcuate tubular member is configured so that said first intermediate tube segment extends forwardly and downwardly in relation to said first line,
- wherein i) a second line intersects said third tube end and said fourth tube end, and ii) said second arcuate tubular member is configured so that said second intermediate tube segment extends rearwardly and downwardly in relation to said second line,
- said first line further intersects both said first frame rail and said second frame rail, and
- said second line further intersects both said first frame rail and said second frame rail.
7 more elements
A pivoting axle assembly for a crop sprayer, the assembly comprising:
- a first frame attachment member secured to a first main rail of a main frame of a crop sprayer;
- a second frame attachment member secured to a second main rail of a main frame of a crop sprayer;
- a plurality of tubular support members, each of said tubular support members including a first end portion and a second end portion, said first end portion being secured to said first frame attachment member and said second end portion being secured to said second frame attachment member;
- a bearing support secured to each of the tubular support member;
- and
- a first bearing housing secured to said bearing support, said first bearing housing defining a first bore;
- and
- a pivot axle including i) a longitudinal member, ii) a pair of wheels attached to said longitudinal member, and iii) a pivot pin secured to a central portion of said longitudinal member and arranged perpendicular to said longitudinal member;
- wherein said pivot pin is rotatably received in said bore of said first bearing housing.
