Sensor mapping

A method comprising:

• receiving input from a user, wherein the received input includes at least one of motion, force and contact;
• generating a sensor signal based on the received input;
• using an application type of a selected application to identify, from a plurality of data structures that are each associated with an application type, a data structure associated with the application type of the selected application, wherein the identified data structure indicates a relationship between the generated sensor signal and one or more functions of applications having a same application type as the selected application;
• and
• using the identified data structure to map the generated sensor signal to a control signal for controlling one or more functions of the selected application based on the identified data structure.
