Curable inks comprising inorganic oxide coated magnetic nanoparticles

An ink comprising:

• a curable ink carrier comprising
• a monomer,
• a photoinitiator,
• a gellant,
• an optional curable oligomer,
• a wax, and
• one or more optional additives;
• and
• coated ferromagnetic nanoparticles further comprising a magnetic metal core and a protective coating disposed on the magnetic metal core, wherein the protective coating comprises an inorganic oxide and further wherein the gellant is selected from a group of curable amide gellants, polyamide, trans-1,2-cyclohexane bis(urea-urethane) compounds, an ester-terminated diamide compound, and mixtures thereof.

An ink comprising:

• a curable ink carrier comprising
• a monomer,
• a photoinitiator,
• a gellant,
• an optional curable oligomer,
• a wax, and
• one or more optional additives;
• and
• coated ferromagnetic nanoparticles further comprising a magnetic metal core and a protective coating disposed on the magnetic metal core, wherein the protective coating comprises an inorganic oxide, and further wherein the ink is used for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) applications and the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition application comprises inkjet printing to produce magnetic ink characters or images.
