Billing support in a media exchange network

A server for use in a media exchange system, the server comprising:

• a communication interface configured to receive from, from a first device at a first location on a media exchange network, a request for a media gift to be pushed to a second device at a second location on the media exchange network;
• processing circuitry configured to conditionally grant permission for the media gift to be pushed to the second device based, at least in part, on a payment status associated with the media gift;
• and
• the communication interface further configured to transmit an instruction directing the media gift to be pushed to the second device in response to permission being granted.

A method for use in a media exchange system, the method comprising:

• receiving from a first device at a first location on a media exchange network, a request for a personalized selection of media to be pushed to a second device at a second location on the media exchange network;
• determining whether the second device is authorized to access the personalized selection of media;
• and
• transmitting, to the second device in response to a favorable determination, an authorization to access the personalized media selection.
