Method for installing rights object for content in memory card

A method of receiving, by a memory card, a rights object (RO) from a rights issuer (RI) via a terminal, comprising:

• receiving, by the memory card and from the terminal, a provisioning setup request message including a wrapped key material,
• wherein the provisioning setup request message is received from the terminal if a device identification (ID) in a RO response message received by the terminal from the rights issuer matches an ID of the memory card which is different from an ID of the terminal;
• obtaining, from the wrapped key material, a verification key;
• transmitting, from the memory card to the terminal, a provisioning setup response message including the verification key used for confirmation of a RO Response message received by the terminal from the rights issuer;
• and
• receiving, by the memory card and from the terminal, a rights provisioning request message for installing corresponding rights in the memory card, the rights provisioning request message including rights information,
• wherein the rights information is based on the RO response message received from the rights issuer.

A memory card, comprising:

• an interface configured to receive, from the terminal, a provisioning setup request message, including information about a size of rights to be installed in the memory card;
• and
• a processor configured to check whether there is a space in the memory card for the rights and process the provisioning setup request message,
• wherein the interface is further configured to transmit, to the terminal, a provisioning setup response message including a status indicating a result of processing the provisioning setup request message,
• wherein the interface is further configured to receive, from the terminal, a rights provisioning request message for installing the rights into the memory card, the rights provisioning request message including rights information, and
• wherein the rights information is based on rights being extracted from a right object (RO) response message received by the terminal from a rights issuer if a device identifier (ID) in the RO response message matches an ID of the memory card which is different from an ID of the terminal.

A terminal, comprising:

• a receiver configured to receive from a rights issuer (RI), a rights object (RO) response message including a device identifier (ID) and a protected RO including a wrapped key material, wherein a memory card is inserted into the terminal;
• a controller configured to extract rights from the protected RO if the device ID in the RO response message matches an ID of the memory card instead of an ID of the terminal;
• and
• a transmitter configured to transmit, to the memory card, a provisioning setup request message including the wrapped key material and information about a size of the rights,
• wherein if the receiver receives, from the memory card, a provisioning setup response message including a status indicating that a result of processing the provisioning setup request message is success, then the transmitter is configured to transmit a rights provisioning request message to the memory card for installing corresponding rights information in the memory card.
