Abstract
A protective device or bridge comprising a central arch is suitable to be placed between an annuplasty device placed in the coronary sinus and an underlying coronary artery to inhibit transmission of compressive force on the coronary artery by the annuplasty device.
Claims20
A protection device for protecting a vessel from compression during catheter-based mitral annuloplasty in which a circumferential annuloplasty tension element extends at least partially through a coronary sinus of the heart over an outer surface of a coronary artery, the device comprising:
- a surgically sterile protection device configured to pass through a transvascular catheter and fit within the coronary sinus as it passes over the coronary artery, wherein the circumferential annuloplasty tension element can extend and be placed under tension, the protection device further comprising a central arch of sufficient rigidity and dimensions to inhibit application of pressure to the underlying coronary artery when the circumferential annuloplasty tension element is placed under tension during mitral annuloplasty.
