Abstract
Systems and methods which generate a sequence of images using turbo spin echo magnetic resonance imaging which are retrospectively correlated with periodic motion occurring within a subject being imaged are described. In one embodiment, k-space measurements (or the measurements from which images are formed) are captured during, and correlated with, different phases in a cardiac cycle of the subject. With this sequence, the images that are produced are able to show, and/or compensate for, motion correlated with the cardiac cycle of the subject.
Claims23
A magnetic resonance imaging system comprising:
- a transducer configured to generate raw turbo spin echo (TSE) magnetic resonance image data;
- a monitoring device configured to generate motion data corresponding to periodic motion within a subject being imaged;
- and
- a processing device configured to receive said raw image data and said motion data from said monitoring device, said processing device further configured to separate said raw image data received across multiple periods of said periodic motion into respective bins related to time divisions of a reference period of said periodic motion, said processing device further configured to reconstruct said separated image data in accordance with said time divisions.
A method for processing images using a turbo spin echo (TSE) magnetic resonance imaging device, said method comprising:
- monitoring a periodic motion cycle of a patient;
- capturing a plurality of images generated by said TSE imaging device, said images captured over a plurality of said periodic motion cycles;
- and
- correlating individual images of said plurality of images generated by said TSE imaging device with a time phase of a single periodic motion cycle.
A computer program product having a computer readable media including instructions encoded thereon that, when executed, enables a processor to perform the operations of:
- receiving a multislice, single image per slice, turbo spin echo (TSE) imaging signal;
- receiving monitoring data corresponding to a periodic motion cardiac cycle signal of a subject being imaged;
- correlating said received single image per slice TSE imaging signal with said monitoring data;
- and
- converting received said single image per slice (TSE) imaging signal into a multislice, retrospectively cardiac cycle correlated image sequence per slice, to produce a cineTSE image sequence.
