Abstract
Provided are a solar cell apparatus and a method of manufacturing the same. The solar cell apparatus includes: a substrate; a back electrode layer on the substrate; a light absorbing layer on the back electrode layer; and a front electrode layer on the light absorbing layer. A groove is formed in an outline portion of the substrate.

A solar cell apparatus comprising:
- a substrate;
- a back electrode layer on the substrate;
- a light absorbing layer on the back electrode layer;
- and
- a front electrode layer on the light absorbing layer,
- wherein a groove is formed in an outline portion of the substrate.

- a substrate including a cell area and an edge area surrounding the cell area;
- a back electrode layer in the cell area;
- an insulation layer in the edge area;

A method of manufacturing a solar cell apparatus, the method comprising:
- forming a sacrificial layer on a substrate;
- forming a back electrode layer on the substrate and the sacrificial layer;
- forming a light absorbing layer on the back electrode layer;
- forming a front electrode layer on the light absorbing layer;
- and
- removing a portion or all of the sacrificial layer, an outline portion of the back electrode layer, an outline portion of the light absorbing layer, and an outline portion of the front electrode layer.
