Abstract
Apparatus and methods are disclosed for OTEC plant. The device can be deployed in ocean with depth of 600 meter or more.
Claims24
OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) electricity generating plant using carbon dioxide or ethane as working fluid.
OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) electricity generating plant comprising:
- a surface portion with positive buoyancy;
- a power generation and storage portion (main portion) with slight negative buoyancy that include the warm water heat exchanger near the surface, cold water heat exchanger at depth, electricity generating turbine, optional cold working vapor condensation compressor, sea water electrolytic decomposition chamber and liquid hydrogen storage tank,
- pressure sensors to monitor the depth of the surface portion and pumps to control the amount of sea water in the ballast tank in the surface portion so that the depth of the surface portion can be continuously maintained.
- Connection to anchor at the bottom of the ocean.
