Carbon Nanotube Grafted with Low-Molecular Weight Polyaniline and Dispersion Thereof

A method for producing chemically modified carbon nanotubes which comprises:

• heating carbon nanotubes having carboxyl groups on the surface thereof and polymeric aniline in a solvent in the presence of a condensation agent and a base to graft said polymeric aniline to said carbon nanotubes to produce said modified carbon nanotubes having said polymeric aniline bound to said nanotubes through an amide linkage, so that chemically modified carbon nanotubes having an unsubstituted phenyl group at the end of a polyaniline chain are obtained.
