Abstract
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing sugar, which short-circuits at least one sulfitation step and utilizes means for minimizing microbe/microorganism activity and reducing the impurities in the sugar.
Claims24
A method for manufacturing sugar from sugarcane, comprising steps of:
- dosing biocides on sugarcane during cane preparation and milling to kill about 90% microbes including microbes growing at high temperature;
- heating the juice to 70° C.;
- neutralizing the juice;
- heating the neutralized juice to about 105 deg C.;
- passing juice through the clarifiers or settling tanks;
- evaporating to boil-off water from the juice to obtain syrup of the juice having about 60% solids;
- crystallizing the syrup;
- and separating, washing and drying the sugar;
- wherein sugar produce is about neutral and contain substantially lower amount of sulfur.
A method for manufacturing sugar from sugarcane, comprising steps of:
- dosing biocides on sugarcane during cane preparation for cane sanitation and milling for mill sanitation;
- heating the juice at 70° C.;
- neutralizing the juice;
- heating the neutralized juice to about 105 deg C.;
- adding amine polymers in the juice to effect solid settling clarifiers or settling tanks;
- evaporating to boil off water to obtain syrup of the juice having about 60% solids;
- crystallizing the syrup;
- and
- separating, washing and drying the sugar
- wherein a sulfitation step is short-circuited to produce sugar containing substantially negligible amount of sulfur.
