Social network based information discovery about network data processing systems

A data processing system comprising:

• a bus;
• a communications unit connected to the bus;
• a storage device connected to the bus, wherein the storage device includes program code;
• and
• a processor unit connected to the bus, wherein the processor unit runs the program code to obtain known information about a network data processing system;
• create a model of the network data processing system using the known information;
• identify missing information about the network data processing system in the model of the network data processing system;
• select a number of people for obtaining the missing information;
• send a number of requests to the number of people for the missing information, wherein each request includes the model;
• and update the model in response to receiving a number of responses to the number of requests.

A computer program product for analyzing a network data processing system, the computer program product comprising:

• a computer recordable storage medium;
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for obtaining known information about the network data processing system;
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for creating a model of the network data processing system using the known information;
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for identifying missing information about the network data processing system in the model of the network data processing system;
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for selecting a number of people for obtaining the missing information;
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for sending a number of requests to the number of people for the missing information, wherein each request includes the model;
• and
• program code, stored on the computer recordable storage medium, for updating the model in response to receiving a number of responses to the number of requests.
