Radiation treatment systems

A radiation treatment system comprising:

• a plurality of treatment-related components;
• a digital packet network;
• a supervisor control entity electrically coupled to the digital packet network and having a treatment plan;
• and
• a plurality of nodes, each node coupled to the digital packet communications network and controlling one or more treatment-related components;
• and
• wherein a plurality of treatment-related components are disposed within a treatment room, and wherein the supervisor control entity and at least one node are disposed outside of the treatment room.

A radiation treatment system comprising:

• a plurality of treatment-related components;
• a digital packet network;
• a supervisor control entity electrically coupled to the digital packet network and having a treatment plan;
• a plurality of nodes, each node coupled to the digital packet communications network and controlling one or more treatment-related components;
• and
• a body of neutron-absorbing material disposed between at least one treatment-related component and the supervisor control entity, the body of neutron-absorbing material reducing the neutron flux density passing through itself by a factor of ten or more.
