Abstract
We describe apparatuses, systems, method, reagents, and kits for conducting assays as well as process for their preparation. They are particularly well suited for conducting automated sampling, sample preparation, and analysis in a multi-well plate assay format. For example, they may be used for automated analysis of particulates in air and/or liquid samples derived therefrom in environmental monitoring.
Claims20
A monitoring system comprising a plurality of sample collection modules fluidically connected to a detection module, wherein said detection module comprises
- (i) a plate holder for supporting a multi-well assay plate in said detection module
- (i) a fluidic manifold for receiving a sample from said sample collection module
- (ii) a pipettor for transferring sample from said fluidic manifold to a well of a multi-well assay plate in said system;
- (iii) a light detector for measuring luminescence from said well of said plate.
A method of detecting analytes in a sample comprising
- (a) collecting a sample in a first sample collection module;
- (b) generating a concentrated sample in said sample collection module;
- (c) transferring said concentrated sample to a fluidic manifold;
- (d) transferring said concentrated sample from said fluidic manifold to a well of a multi-well assay plate;
- (e) conducting a luminescence assay in said multi-well assay plate;
- (f) detecting the presence or absence of said analytes;
- (g) repeating steps (a)-(f) using one or more additional sample collection modules.
A monitoring system comprising a plurality of sample collection modules fluidically connected to a detection module, wherein said detection module comprises
- (i) a holder for supporting an assay consumable
- (i) a fluidic manifold for receiving a sample from said sample collection module
- (ii) a fluidic subsystem for transferring sample from said fluidic manifold to said assay consumable;
- (iii) a detection subsystem for measuring an assay signal from said assay consumable.
