Media and data synchronization system

A system for synchronizing information, comprising:

• a processor configured to:
• associate one or more media timestamps with media corresponding to a program;
• associate one or more data timestamps with data corresponding to the program;
• and
• identify, based at least in part on a comparison of a current media timestamp to the one or more data timestamps, data having a greatest data timestamp that is less than or equal to the current media timestamp, wherein the current media timestamp corresponds to currently playing media on a computing device;
• and
• a server in communication with the processor and configured to:
• provide at least a portion of the media for presentation on the computing device;
• receive the current media timestamp;
• and
• provide the identified data for presentation on the computing device.

A method for presenting a program, comprising:

• receiving, with a receiver of a computing device, media corresponding to a program, wherein one or more media timestamps are associated with the media;
• presenting the media through a media player application;
• transmitting a current media timestamp to a system that provided the media, wherein the current media timestamp corresponds to currently playing media;
• receiving, in response to the transmitting of the current media timestamp, data corresponding to the currently playing media, wherein a data timestamp associated with the received data comprises a greatest data timestamp that is less than or equal to the current media timestamp.
