Programmable roll former and angle cutter

A programmable forming machine adapted to receive an elongated sheet of formable material with two edges and operative to form a selected profile, length and angled or straight end thereon, comprising:

• a. a roll former having an entrance, a metal cutter, exit and two sides with rollers on each side for forming the desired profile on the material;
• b. means for moving the material through the roll former;
• c. an exit cutter proximate to the exit of the roll former to receive the profiled sheet and selectively enabled to cut the sheet at the desired length and angle;
• d. a programmable controller for directing the means for moving the material through the roll former and directing the cutter to cut the material at the desired length and angle;
• e. notching apparatus selectively enabled to punch notches or holes in edges of the formable material as directed by the programmable controller prior to the material entering the roll former, with the notching apparatus further selectively enabled to punch the notches or holes in the formable material in each edge at the location selected for cutting the sheet by the metal cutter and the exit cutter as directed by the programmable controller;
• and
• f. decoiler reel for holding a roll of formable material for entrance into the roll former.

A system for measuring a roof and cutting an elongated sheet of formable material with two edges into panels of a selected profile, length and angled or straight end thereon to accurately cover the roof with the panels, comprising:

• a. a measuring device for measuring the dimensions of the roof and collecting the data on the measurements;
• b. a roll former having an entrance, a metal cutter, exit and two sides with rollers on each side for forming the desired profile on the material;
• c. means for moving the material through the roll former;
• d. an exit cutter proximate to the exit of the roll former to receive the profiled sheet and selectively enabled to cut the sheet at the desired length and angle;
• and
• e. a programmable controller for directing the means for moving the material through the roll former and directing the cutter to cut the material at the desired length and angle;
• and
• f. with the measuring device transferring the data to the programmable controller which automatically processes the data to cut the panels of desired length and angle for covering the roof with panels
