The present invention concerns the use of uronic acid saccharide for preventing growth of Enterobacter sakazakii.

A method of preventing growth of growth of Enterobacter sakazakii in a composition comprising adding uronic acid saccharide to the composition.
A method for the treatment and/or prevention of (i) Enterobacter sakazakii infection;
- (ii) neonatal meningitis;
- and/or (iii) necrotizing enterocolitis in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a composition comprising uronic acid saccharide.
A composition comprising powdered infant formula enriched in uronic acid saccharide.
