Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition in the form of a phase-stable oil-in-water emulsion useful for topical skin care products, where the composition includes a quaternary ammonium salt, from about 0.5 to about 4.5 percent by weight of a starch; and at least 20 percent by weight of a hydrophobic agent, where the concentration of the quaternary ammonium salt plus the starch is from about 1.75 to about 5.5 weight percent, based on total weight of the composition.
Claims11
A composition comprising a phase-stable, oil-in-water emulsion, said emulsion comprising a continuous aqueous phase and a discontinuous oil phase substantially homogenously suspended in the continuous aqueous, said composition comprising:
- from about 0.5 to about 4.5 percent by weight of a starch, based on total weight of the composition,
- a quaternary ammonium salt defined by the Structure I:
- wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4 comprises a hydrophobic moiety;
- and
- 20 or more percent by weight of a hydrophobic agent, based on total weight of the composition,
- wherein the concentration of the quaternary ammonium salt plus the starch is from about 1.75 to about 6 percent by weight, based on total weight of the composition.
