Abstract
Function information related to a plurality of kinds of functions arranged in a first image forming apparatus is acquired. The acquired function information is displayed. A desired function is designated from the displayed functions. A document containing the identification information is read on the basis of the designated function. The read document image is transmitted to the first image forming apparatus through a network. The identification information of original data corresponding to the document image is received from the first image forming apparatus through the network.

An image processing apparatus which communicates with an external image processing apparatus via a network, the image forming apparatus comprising:
- an input unit constructed to input first image data;
- a first transmitting unit constructed to transmit the first image data inputted by said input unit to the external image processing apparatus via the network, wherein the external image processing device can obtain a second image data corresponding to the received first image data;
- a first receiving unit constructed to receive identification information for identifying the second image data transmitted from the external image processing apparatus via the network;
- a selecting unit constructed to select one of the plurality of identification information received by said first receiving unit based on an instruction from a user of the image processing apparatus when a plural pieces of identification information is received by said first receiving unit;
- a second transmitting unit constructed to transmit the identification information selected by said selecting unit to the external image processing apparatus;
- and
- a second receiving unit constructed to receive the second image data, which is obtained by the external image processing apparatus based on the transmitted identification information, transmitted from the external image processing apparatus.
The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a display unit constructed to display the plural pieces of identification information received by said first receiving unit when the plural pieces of identification information is received by said first receiving unit, wherein
- said selecting unit selects one of plural pieces of the displayed identification information based on the instruction from the user.
The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a printing unit constructed to print the second image data received by said second receiving unit.
The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein
- said first receiving unit receives a thumbnail image of the second image data in addition to the identification information, and
- wherein said display unit displays the thumbnail image corresponding to the identification information.
The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
- said input unit inputs the first image data by scanning a document in response to an instruction from the user of the image processing apparatus.
An image processing system including a first image processing apparatus and a second image processing apparatus, wherein the first image processing apparatus comprises:
- an input unit constructed to input first image data;
- a first transmitting unit constructed to transmit the first image data inputted by said input unit to the second image processing apparatus via the network, wherein the external image processing device can obtain a second image data corresponding to the received first image data;
- a first receiving unit constructed to receive identification information for identifying the second image data transmitted from the second image processing apparatus via the network;
- a selecting unit constructed to select one of the plurality of identification information received by said first receiving unit based on an instruction from a user of the first image processing apparatus when a plural pieces of identification information is received by said first receiving unit;
- a second transmitting unit constructed to transmit the identification information selected by said selecting unit to the second image processing apparatus;
- and
- a second receiving unit constructed to receive the second image data, which is obtained by the external image processing apparatus based on the transmitted identification information, transmitted from the external image processing apparatus,
- wherein the second image processing apparatus comprises:
- a third receiving unit constructed to receive the first image data transmitted from the first image processing apparatus;
- a searching unit constructed to search the second image data based on the first image data received by said third receiving unit;
- a third transmitting unit constructed to transmit the identification information to the first image processing apparatus;
- a fourth receiving unit constructed to receive the identification information selected by said selecting unit;
- and
- a fourth transmitting unit constructed to transmit the second image data, corresponding to received identification information and searched by said searching unit, to the first image processing apparatus.
The system according to claim 6, wherein the first image processing apparatus further comprising a display unit constructed to display the plural pieces of identification information received by said first receiving unit when the plural pieces of identification information is received by said first receiving unit, wherein
- said selecting unit selects one of plural pieces of the displayed identification information based on the instruction from the user.
The system according to claim 6, wherein the first image processing apparatus further comprising a printing unit constructed to print the second image data received by said second receiving unit.
The system according to claim 7, wherein
- said first receiving unit receives a thumbnail image of the second image data in addition to the identification information, and
- wherein said display unit displays the thumbnail image corresponding to the identification information.
The system according to claim 6, wherein
- said input unit inputs the first image data by scanning a document in response to an instruction from the user of the first image processing apparatus.
A control method of an image processing apparatus which communicates with an external image processing apparatus via a network, the control method comprising:
- an inputting step of inputting first image data;
- a first transmitting step of transmitting the first image data inputted in said inputting step to the external image processing apparatus via the network, wherein the external image processing device can obtain a second image data corresponding to the received first image data;
- a first receiving step of receiving identification information for identifying the second image data transmitted from the external image processing apparatus via the network;
- a selecting step of selecting one of the plurality of identification information received in said first receiving step based on an instruction from a user of the image processing apparatus when a plural pieces of identification information is received in said first receiving step;
- a second transmitting step of transmitting the identification information selected in said selecting step to the external image processing apparatus;
- and
- a second receiving step of receiving the second image data, which is obtained by the external image processing apparatus based on the transmitted identification information, transmitted from the external image processing apparatus.
A computer-readable medium storing a computer program which implements control of an image processing apparatus which communicates with an external image processing apparatus via a network, said computer program comprising:
- a program code for an inputting step of inputting first image data;
- a program code for a first transmitting step of transmitting the first image data inputted in said inputting step to the external image processing apparatus via the network, wherein the external image processing device can obtain a second image data corresponding to the received first image data;
- a program code for a first receiving step of receiving identification information for identifying the second image data transmitted from the external image processing apparatus via the network;
- a program code for a selecting step of selecting one of the plurality of identification information received in said first receiving step based on an instruction from a user of the image processing apparatus when a plural pieces of identification information is received in said first receiving step;
- a program code for a second transmitting step of transmitting the identification information selected in said selecting step to the external image processing apparatus;
- and
- a program code for a second receiving step of receiving the second image data, which is obtained by the external image processing apparatus based on the transmitted identification information, transmitted from the external image processing apparatus.
