Network-based processing of data requests for contact information

A computer-readable medium having computer-executable components, implemented by executing instructions on a processor associated with a computing device, the computer-executable components comprising:

• an interface component operative to receive data request information corresponding to at least one of an identified entity, a set of identifiable entities, an identified contact, group information, and communication category information, the data request information specified in accordance with an application protocol interface;
• a data request processing component operative to process the data request information with regard to information accessible with to the data request processing component, wherein the data request processing component generates results corresponding to at least one of:
• an identification of a subset of contacts based on a specified entity obtained in the data request;
• a verification of an identified contact as corresponding to a subset of contacts associated with a specified entity, the contact and specified entity obtained in the data request;
• an identification of group-based information based on group selection information obtained in the data request;
• and
• an identification of at least one of a communication category and a communication activity corresponding to an identified contact obtained in the data request.

A computer-implemented method comprising:

• obtaining a data request specified in accordance with an application protocol interface, the data request transmitted over a communication network;
• processing the data request in accordance with data processing information maintained in a data store;
• and
• generating a result, the result corresponding to at least one of:
• identifying a subset of contacts based on a specified entity obtained in the data request;
• verifying an identified contact as corresponding to a subset of contacts associated with a specified entity, the contact and specified entity obtained in the data request;
• identifying group-based information based on group selection information obtained in the data request;
• and
• identifying at least one of a communication category and a communication activity corresponding to an identified contact obtained in the data request;
• wherein the method is implemented by a computing system.
