Abstract
Disclosed are low temperature curable coating compositions that include a polymer comprising functional groups reactive with anhydride groups and a crosslinking agent that includes the ungelled hydrosilylation reaction product of a silicon hydride and an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid anhydride. Also disclosed are related coated substrates and methods for coating a substrate.
Claims22
A coating composition comprising:
- (a) a polymer comprising functional groups reactive with anhydride groups;
- and
- (b) a crosslinking agent comprising an ungelled hydrosilylation reaction product of a silicon hydride and an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid anhydride.
A low-temperature thermosettable coating composition comprising:
- (a) a polymer comprising functional groups reactive with anhydride groups;
- and
- (b) a crosslinking agent comprising the ungelled hydrosilylation reaction product of a polysiloxane containing silicon hydride and a cycloaliphatic unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride of the general formula:
- wherein Z is selected from —O— and C—(R)2 and R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are each independently selected from hydrogen, a halogen, a C(1-13) monovalent hydrocarbon radical, and a substituted C(1-13) monovalent hydrocarbon radical;
- and
- (c) a hydrolyzable group containing compound.
