Abstract
Techniques for remotely viewing a presentation are disclosed. In accordance with these techniques, a host device executing a presentation application makes a presentation available over a network. In one embodiment, a remote device receives presentation data corresponding to a currently displayed slide of the presentation. The remote device may then display a representation of the currently displayed slide at the remote location.
Claims21
An electronic device comprising:
- a network interface capable of communicating over a network;
- a memory;
- one or more storage structures encoding a presentation application comprising one or more web server routines, wherein the presentation application, when executed, is capable of receiving a request over the network for one or more static slide images corresponding to a currently displayed slide of a presentation and of distributing the one or more static slide images over the network in response to the request;
- and
- a processor capable of running the encoded presentation application when loaded in the memory.
A method for distributing a slide presentation, comprising:
- receiving an input configuring a slideshow presentation to be distributed over a network by a web server running on a computer;
- playing the slideshow presentation;
- receiving polling requests over the network;
- transmitting an indication of a current slide or a current slide build in response to the polling requests;
- receiving a request for an image of the current slide or the current slide build;
- generating the image;
- and
- transmitting the image in response to the request.
A computer-readable media, the computer-readable media encoding routines comprising:
- a routine capable of playing a presentation;
- a routine capable of responding over a network to periodic polling requests with an indication of a currently displayed slide or slide build of the presentation;
- a routine capable of generating a static image of the currently displayed slide or slide build;
- a routine capable of receiving a request for the static image over the network;
- and
- a routine capable of transmitting the static image over the network in response to the request.
The computer-readable media of claim 18, comprising:
- a routine capable of distributing an applet over the network to implement the periodic polling.
The computer-readable media of claim, wherein the routine capable of transmitting the static image transmits a respective static image of a suitable size, resolution, or format for one or more a network characteristic or a characteristic of the device or application sending the request for the static image.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
