Abstract
A network device may operate to increase application performance over a wide area network. In one particular implementation, the network device may monitor accesses to a disk drive from entities and determine whether an entity is accessing the disk drive in a manner that causes a disproportionate amount of performance degradation. If so, the network device may throttle access to the disk drive for the entity.
Claims2
A network device comprising:
- one or more disk drives;
- logic to monitor access to the one or more disk drives, the disk drive access being associated with entities transferring data through the network device;
- logic to determine whether an entity is behaving badly with respect to the access of the one or more disk drives;
- and
- logic to throttle disk drive access requests for the entity when the entity is determined to be behaving badly.
