Methods and systems for reducing paravalvular leakage in heart valves

A replacement valve comprising:

• a valve body having a proximal inflow end, a distal outflow end, and a plurality of valve leaflets;
• and
• a valve cuff wrapped around the proximal inflow end of the valve body, the valve cuff comprising:
• a scalloped skirt portion;
• a first flange;
• and
• a second flange;
• wherein the first and second flanges are coupled to the skirt portion and are structured to form a seal around the proximal inflow end of the valve body.

A replacement valve comprising:

• a valve body having an inflow end, an outflow end, and a valve support structure surrounding the valve body;
• and
• a valve cuff surrounding the inflow end of the valve body and coupled to the valve support structure, the valve cuff comprising:
• a scalloped skirt portion;
• and
• at least one flange coupled to and protruding from the skirt portion to form a seal around the inflow end of the valve body.
