A sunflower seed having imidazolinone resistance and an oleic acid content of greater than 85 percent is provided. Sunflower cultivars designated E83329, OI 1601 A, OI2653R, and OI 1601 B and having high oleic acid and imidazolinone resistance, plants and seeds of the E83329, OI1601A, OI2653R, and OI 1601 B sunflower cultivars, methods for producing a sunflower plant produced by crossing the E83329, OI 1601 A, OI2653R, or OI 1601 B cultivar with itself or with another sunflower plant, and hybrid sunflower seeds and plants produced by crossing the E83329, OI 1601 A, OI2653R, or OI 1601 B cultivar with another sunflower line or plant are also provided.
A sunflower seed having a gene for resistance to imidazolinone herbicide and an oleic acid content of greater than 85 percent, wherein said resistance gene is a gene which confers tolerance to imidazolinone.
A seed of sunflower cultivar OI1601A, a representative sample of seed of the cultivar having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A method of introducing a desired trait into sunflower cultivar OI1601A wherein the method comprises:
A seed of sunflower cultivar OI2653R, a representative sample of seed of the cultivar having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A method of introducing a desired trait into sunflower cultivar OI2653R wherein the method comprises:
A seed of sunflower cultivar OI1601 B, a representative sample of seed of the cultivar having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A method of introducing a desired trait into sunflower cultivar OI1601B wherein the method comprises:
A seed of sunflower hybrid E83329, a representative sample of seed of the cultivar having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A sunflower plant, or a part thereof, produced by growing the seed of claim 38.
A tissue culture of regenerable cells produced from the plant of claim 39.
A sunflower plant regenerated from the tissue culture of claim 40 wherein the plant has all the morphological and physiological characteristics of cultivar E83329.
A method for producing a hybrid sunflower seed wherein the method comprises crossing the plant of claim 39 with a different sunflower plant and harvesting the resultant hybrid sunflower seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into sunflower cultivar E83329 wherein the method comprises:
A plant produced by the method of claim 43 wherein the plant has the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of sunflower cultivar E83329 as determined at the 5 percent significance level when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A process for producing an oil comprising an oleic acid content of greater than 85 percent, the process comprising the steps of:
