Method and apparatus for delegating signal quality handover measuring of a user equipment in wireless communication to a neighbouring user equipment

A method for measuring signal quality performed by a wireless communication network, comprising the steps of:

• (a) receiving a cooperative measurement request from a communicating UE to obtain a measurement result which approximates to the result obtained by the communicating UE's own measurement;
• (b) finding one or more neighboring UEs suitable to carry out cooperative measurement according to the cooperative request from the communicating UE, and sending the cooperative measurement request to the neighboring UEs;
• and
• (c) receiving a cooperative measurement result reported by at least one of the neighboring UEs.

A method for measuring signal quality performed by a UE in wireless communication network, comprising the steps of:

• (a) sending the cooperative measurement request to neighboring UEs to delegate at least one of the neighboring UEs to carry out cooperative measurement, for obtaining a measurement result which approximates to the result obtained by the UE's own measurement, wherein the distance between each of the neighboring UEs and the UE is less than a predefined threshold;
• (b) receiving the cooperative measurement result from at least one of the neighboring UEs;
• and
• (c) reporting the received cooperative measurement result to a corresponding network.

A User Equipment (UE) used in wireless communication network, comprising:

• a receiving unit, for receiving a cooperative measurement request from a communicating UE to obtain a measurement result which approximates to that obtained by the communicating UE's own measurement;
• an executing unit, for executing corresponding cooperative measurement to obtain the measurement result of the cooperative measurement according to the cooperative measurement request;
• and
• a sending unit, for sending the cooperative measurement result to the communicating UE.

A communication network, comprising

• a receiving unit, for receiving a cooperative measurement request from a communicating UE to obtain a measurement result which approximates to that obtained by the UE's own measurement;
• a processing unit, for finding one or more neighboring UEs suitable for carrying out cooperative measurement according to the cooperative measurement request from the communicating UE;
• and
• a sending unit, for sending the cooperative measurement request to the neighboring UEs selected by the processing unit;
• wherein, the receiving unit is used to receive the measurement results from at least one of the neighboring UEs.

A User Equipment used in a wireless communication network, comprising

• a sending unit, for sending a cooperative measurement request to neighboring UEs to delegate at least one of the neighboring UEs to carry out cooperative measurement for obtaining a measurement result which approximates to the result obtained by the UE's own measurement, in which the distance between each of the neighboring UEs and the UE is less than a predefined threshold;
• and
• a receiving unit, for receiving the cooperative measurement result from at least one of the neighboring UEs;
• wherein, the sending unit is also used to send the cooperative measurement result to the wireless communication network.
