Abstract
A dental implant has a plurality of tiers each having a non-circular outline. Each tier has maximum dimensions of its respective outline along two transverse axes. The maximum dimensions of a given tier are smaller than the maximum dimensions of an adjacent tier. Accordingly, the tiers taper generally from a larger outline to a smaller outline in a vertical direction from a top well to an opposing bottom of the implant. An abutment may be received on the implant.
Claims10
A dental implant that receives an abutment comprising:
- a top portion defining a well for receiving the abutment;
- a bottom portion opposite the top portion;
- and
- a body extending between the top and bottom portions, the body having a plurality of tiers, each of the tiers having a non-circular outline and each of the tiers having maximum dimensions of the outline along at least two transverse axes relative to a vertical axis that are each smaller than maximum dimensions along the at least two transverse axes of an adjacent tier so that the tiers taper generally from a larger outline to a smaller outline along the vertical axis taken from the top to the bottom of the dental implant.
