A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator between the positive electrode and the negative electrode wound together and a case housing the electrode assembly, wherein the electrode assembly has an inner surface and an outer surface having a concave portion.

A rechargeable battery, comprising:
- an electrode assembly comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator between the positive electrode and the negative electrode wound together;
- and
- a case housing the electrode assembly,
- wherein the electrode assembly has an inner surface and an outer surface, the outer surface having a concave portion.
