Abstract
A coating composition, such as an electrodepositable electrocoat primer coating composition, comprises a phosphorylated acrylic polymer, The coating provides excellent corrosion protection even without a conventional phosphate pretreatment.
Claims24
A coating composition comprising a binder, the binder comprising a phosphorylated acrylic polymer.
An aqueous coating composition comprising an acrylic polymer having at least one phosphorous-containing group
- in which X is a hydrogen, a monovalent hydrocarbon group, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylaryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an oxygen atom having a single covalent bond to the phosphorous atom, and each oxygen atom has a covalent bond to a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylaryl group, an arylalkyl group, or the acrylic polymer, with the caveat that at least one oxygen atom has a covalent bond to the acrylic polymer.
