Abstract
A glass substrate chemically strengthened, includes a primary surface that has a compressive stress layer formed in an uppermost surface layer thereof. The compressive stress layer is configured to enhance strength of the glass substrate due to a compressive stress generated in the compressive stress layer. The compressive layer consists of a layer of a potassium ion concentration equal to or less than 5000 parts per million (ppm).
Claims11
A glass substrate chemically strengthened, comprising a primary surface that has a compressive stress layer formed in an uppermost surface layer thereof, the compressive stress layer being configured to enhance strength of the glass substrate due to a compressive stress generated in the compressive stress layer,
- wherein the compressive layer consists of a layer of a potassium ion concentration equal to or less than 5000 parts per million (ppm).
A method for manufacturing a glass substrate, comprising the steps of:
- chemically strengthening the glass substrate by immersing the glass substrate in heated molten salt such that ions of the glass substrate are ion-exchanged for ions of the molten salt;
- and
- removing an ion exchange layer formed in an uppermost surface layer of a primary surface of the glass substrate in the step of chemically strengthening the glass substrate.
