Matrix-based pulse release pharmaceutical formulation

A method of preparing an immediate release component of a solid pharmaceutical composition, wherein the method comprises the steps of:

• applying a granulating solvent to outer surface of the solid pharmaceutical composition, the solid pharmaceutical composition comprising a first pharmaceutically active ingredient distributed substantially uniformly throughout the solid;
• and
• adhering a second pharmaceutically active ingredient onto the outer surface of the composition to provide for immediate release of said second pharmaceutically active ingredient upon oral administration.

An oral pharmaceutical composition comprising an enteric polymer matrix, wherein a pharmaceutically active ingredient is substantially uniformly distributed throughout the enteric polymer matrix.
