An isolated lipopeptide or lipoprotein having the structure of formula (I):
- wherein
- one of R1, R2, and R3 is C14-20 alkenyl, and each of the others, independently is C14-20 alkyl or C14-20 alkenyl;
- and
- X is an amino acid sequence that is 1-100 amino acid residues in length.
