Abstract
Methods are provided for treating and/or reducing the severity of multiple sclerosis in a human, by administering autologous mesenchymal stem cell-derived neural precursors. Also described is an in vitro method for differentiating mesenchymal stem-cell derived neural precursor oligodengroglial and neuronal cell types.
Claims15
A method for treating and/or reducing the severity of multiple sclerosis in a human, comprising administering autologous mesenchymal stem cell-derived neural precursors to a patient in need thereof.
A method for the in vitro differentiation of mesenchymal stem cell-derived neural precursor oligodenroglial and/or neuronal cell types, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. culturing mesenchymal stem cells in a neural progenitor basal medium;
- b. plating said cells and culturing in basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF);
- and
- c. labeling said neural precursors formed following culturing in bFGF.
