Shock-absorbing device for seating structures and seating structure incorporating such device

A shock-absorbing device for mounting to a seating structure, which device comprises a user weight supporting shell (14) attachable to a load-bearing frame (15), wherein the device comprises:

• at least one main hollow body (2) of a first elastomeric material that defines an elastically deformable compression chamber (3);
• at least one secondary hollow body (4) of a second elastomeric material that defines an elastically deformable expansion chamber (5);
• at least one channel (6) for fluid connection between said chambers (3, 5) to allow transfer of at least one fluid from one chamber to the other and vice versa,
• means (7) for attachment of said main body (2) and said secondary body (4) to the seating structure (11) with which the device (1) is associated;
• wherein said at least one connection channel (6) has valve means (8) for controlling fluid flow between said chambers (3, 5) in response to elastic deformation thereof.
