A process of manufacturing a cellulose ester film comprising cellulose ester and a phosphonite compound, the process comprising the steps of
- heating a mixture comprising cellulose ester and a phosphonite compound at a temperature of from 150 to 300° C. to melt;
- and
- casting the melted mixture on a support.
