Abstract
A computer-based architecture and system provides operational control of the document management process, permitting a client seamless access to sophisticated document production operations. Direct client control over SEC compliant document management permits faster more accurate document production operations.

In a computer system comprising
- a communication server, connected to a transmission path linkable to a client-based processor;
- a document management system, connected to said communication server, having processing enabled to process document control instructions comprising a Passport file, a metadata file and a document data file;
- said document management system identifying a client, and a document production process from said Passport file;
- and said document management system programmed to implement a document production process based on said information contained in said document control instructions.

In a computer system for managing the creation and/or production of XBRL tagged compliance documents for submission to the Security and Exchange Commission, said system comprising:
- a communication server configured to receive and process document control instructions;
- a document XBRL tagging processor for implementing a tagging operation that conforms to an XBRL protocol wherein said document control instructions are used to implement the XBRL tagging operation;
- a document final edit and confirmation processor for assessing a finalized version of a document prepared by said XBRL tagging processor and preparing said final version for submission to said Security and Exchange Commission.
