Abstract
The invention concerns a method for automatically differentiating between a sample liquid and a control liquid especially within the context of analytical measuring systems, wherein the presence of a special property of the control liquid and/or at least two criteria are used for the differentiation. In addition the invention concerns appropriate control liquids that are suitable for the new method.
Claims8
1-18. (canceled)
A control liquid effective for use in an optical measuring instrument, comprising a predetermined and known concentration of an analyte of interest and an IR dye which does not have substantial absorption in the wavelength range in which the measurement signal for the analyte of interest is detected.
A control liquid according to claim 1 wherein the dye is a member selected from the group consisting of metal complexes of quinolinequinones, nickel dithiolene dyes, nickel tetramine dyes, quinone dyes, phthalocyanine dyes, naphthocyanine dyes, and azo dyes.
A control liquid according to claim 1 wherein the dye is (2-[2-[2-chloro-3-[[1,3-dihydro-1,1-dimethyl-3-(4-sulfobutyl)-2H-benz[e]indol-2-ylidene]-1-cyclopentene-1-yl]ethenyl]-1,1-dimethyl-3-(4-sulfobutyl)-1H-benz[e]indolium, or a salt thereof.
A control liquid according to claim 1 wherein said analyte of interest is a member of the group consisting of glucose, cholesterol, and lactate.
A control liquid according to claim 4 wherein said analyte of interest is glucose.
A control liquid according to claim 1 wherein said optical measuring instrument is a photometer.
A control liquid effective for use in a photometer, comprising a predetermined and known concentration of glucose and an IR dye which does not have a substantial absorption in the wavelength range in which the photometric measurement signal for glucose is detected.
