Abstract
The present invention relates to a novel IL17RLP protein which is a member of the interleukin (IL)-17 receptor family. In particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the human IL17RLP protein. IL17RLP polypeptides are also provided as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. The invention further relates to screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of IL17RLP activity. Also provided are diagnostic methods for detecting immune system-related disorders and therapeutic methods for treating, diagnosing, detecting, and/or preventing immune system-related disorders.

A method of diagnosing a disease or disorder which comprises:
- (i) contacting a biological sample from a test subject with an antibody or fragment thereof that binds specifically to a IL17RLP protein, wherein the IL17RLP protein consists of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) the amino acid sequence from position −19 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (b) the amino acid sequence from position −18 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (c) the amino acid sequence from position +1 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (d) the amino acid sequence from position +1 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (e) the amino acid sequence from position −5 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (f) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- (g) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein, excluding the N-terminal methionine residue, encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- and
- (h) the amino acid sequence of the extracellular domain of the protein encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- ii) determining the level of IL17RLP protein in the biological sample;
- and
- (iii) comparing the level of IL17RLP protein in the biological sample with a standard level of IL17RLP protein;
- whereby an increase or decrease in the level of IL17RLP protein compared to the standard level of IL17RLP protein is indicative of a disease or disorder.

A method for the treatment of a patient having need to inhibit IL17RLP comprising:
- administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist against an IL17RLP protein, wherein the IL17RLP protein consists of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) the amino acid sequence from position −19 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (b) the amino acid sequence from position −18 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (c) the amino acid sequence from position +1 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (d) the amino acid sequence from position +1 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (e) the amino acid sequence from position −5 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (f) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- (g) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein, excluding the N-terminal methionine residue, encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- and
- (h) the amino acid sequence of the extracellular domain of the protein encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198.

A method for the detection of IL17RLP protein comprising
- (i) assaying the expression of IL17RLP protein in cells or body fluid of an individual using one or more antibodies or fragments thereof that bind specifically to an IL17RLP protein, wherein the IL17RLP protein consists of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) the amino acid sequence from position −19 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (b) the amino acid sequence from position −18 to position +407 of SEQ ID NO:2;

- (d) the amino acid sequence from position +1 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (e) the amino acid sequence from position −5 to position +271 of SEQ ID NO:2;
- (f) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
- (g) the amino acid sequence of the full length protein, excluding the N-terminal methionine residue, encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 209198;
