Generic access network and method for implementing services by using generic access network

A method for initiating a service in a Generic Access Network (GAN), wherein the GAN is configured to connect a generic Internet Protocol (IP) network with a target network and the GAN comprises a Generic Access Network Controller (GANC);

• the method comprises:
• initiating, by a User Equipment (UE), a service in the GANC;
• establishing, by the target network, a bearer from the target network to the GANC according to requirements of the service;
• and
• triggering, by the GANC, a bearer establishment process in the generic IP network according to the requirements of the service.

A method for performing handover by using a Generic Access Network (GAN), wherein the GAN is configured to connect a generic IP network with a target network and the GAN comprises a Generic Access Network Controller (GANC);

• the method comprises:
• triggering, by the GANC, a handover process to the target network;
• and
• when receiving a resource release instruction from the target network, releasing, by the GANC, resources of the GAN.
