Abstract
There are provided compounds of formulas (I) to (XIV) and compositions comprising such compounds. Such compounds and compositions are particularly useful for treating inflammation and/or pain, or for water treatment.

A compound of formula (I), (II), (III), (IV), (V), (VI), (VII), (VIII), (IX), (X), (XI), (XII), (XIII), or (XIV):
- wherein
- R1 is —OH, a C1-C12 alkyl, a C2-C12 alkenyl, a C2-C12 alkynyl, a C3-C8 cycloalkyl, a C3-C8 cycloalkenyl, a C6-C12 aryl, or a C1-C12 heteroaryl group,
- said alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, and heteroaryl groups being unsubstituted or substituted by a hydroxy, a C1-C12 alkyl, a C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl, or a C1-C6 alkoxy.

A composition comprising at least one compound chosen from compounds of formulas (I) and (II), and at least one compound chosen from compounds of formulas (III), (IV), (V), (VI), (VII), (VIII), (IX), (X), (XI), (XII), (XIII), and (XIV)

A process for preparing a compound of formula (I) and/or (II):
- wherein
- R1 is —OH, a C1-C12 alkyl, a C2-C12 alkenyl, a C2-C12 alkynyl, a C3-C8 cycloalkyl, a C3-C8 cycloalkenyl, a C6-C12 aryl, or a C1-C12 heteroaryl group,
- said alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, and heteroaryl groups being unsubstituted or substituted by a hydroxy, a C1-C12 alkyl, a C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl, or a C1-C6 alkoxy,
- said process comprising reacting a compound of formula (XV):
- wherein R1 is as previously defined,
- with glycerol so as to obtain said compound of formula (I) and/or said compound of formula (II).
