The present invention provides methods and compositions for increasing the growth rates, alleviating the symptoms, or improving the metabolism of human patients having an endocrine disorder characterized by partial endogenous growth hormone activity or signaling. The invention provides a method comprising administering to a patient suffering from an endocrine disorder characterized by partial endogenous growth hormone activity or signaling an amount of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) effective to improve metabolism in the patient, where the patient receives IGF-1 in a single daily administration. The invention also provides a method comprising administering to a patient suffering from an endocrine disorder characterized by partial endogenous growth hormone activity or signaling an amount of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and an amount of growth hormone (GH) that in combination are effective to improve growth or metabolism in the patient, where the patient receives IGF-1 in a single daily administration and receives GH in a single daily administration, and where the single IGF-1 administration and the single GH ad-ministration are administered to the patient substantially contemporaneously each day.
A method for treating a subject having idiopathic short stature (ISS) comprising administering to a human pediatric subject suffering from an idiopathic short statural (ISS) disorder characterized by partial endogenous growth hormone activity or signaling an amount of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) effective to promote growth in the subject, wherein the subject is further characterized as follows:
A method for treating a subject having insulin-like growth factor-1 deficiency (IGFD) comprising;
A method for treating a partial endogenous growth hormone activity or signaling growth disorder in a subject, comprising
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising administering to a human patient suffering from anorexia nervosa and osteopenia an amount of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) effective to improve bone metabolism in the patient, wherein the patient receives IGF-1 in a single administration per day.
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising administering to a human patient suffering from anorexia nervosa and osteopenia an amount of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and an amount of growth hormone that in combination are effective to improve bone metabolism in the patient, wherein the patient receives IGF-1 in a single administration per day, wherein the patient receives growth hormone in a single administration per day, and wherein the single administration of growth hormone and the single administration of IGF-1 are administered to the patient substantially contemporaneously each day.
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising administering to a human patient suffering from cachexia an amount of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) effective to improve nitrogen balance or increase body weight or lean body mass in the patient, wherein the patient receives IGF-1 in a single administration per day.
A method for treating an endocrine disorder in a patient, comprising administering to a human patient suffering from cachexia an amount of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and an amount of growth hormone that in combination are effective to improve nitrogen balance or increase body weight or lean body mass in the patient, wherein the patient receives IGF-1 in a single administration per day, wherein the patient receives growth hormone in a single administration per day, and wherein the single administration of growth hormone and the single administration of IGF-1 are administered to the patient substantially contemporaneously each day.
