Safety-stop device

A safety-stop device for use with a trochar having a trochar tube, said device comprising:

• (a) a base with a bottom and an upstanding member on said base and at least two apertures on said base adapted to receive sutures therethrough and into a patient for securing said base to said patient, wherein said base further comprises a channel extending from said bottom through a top of said upstanding member wherein said base further has a width substantially greater than a width of said upstanding member;
• and
• (b) a cap having a hollow interior, a cap aperture, and retention means for retaining said cap onto said upstanding member after placement thereon thereby defining a unit and for registering and retaining said unit on said trochar tube after placement thereon.
