Abstract
A tunneling system includes an elongate tunneling member defining a longitudinal axis along at least a portion of a longitudinal length thereof. The elongate tunneling member has a first end and a second end. The second end of the elongate tunneling member includes a coupling segment adapted for securely engaging a catheter.
Claims19
A tunneling system for use with a catheter having at least one longitudinal lumen, which comprises:
- an elongate tunneling member defining a longitudinal axis along at least a portion of a longitudinal length thereof, the elongate tunneling member having a first end and a second end, the second end including a coupling segment integrally formed therewith, the coupling segment adapted for securely engaging a catheter.
The tunneling system according to claim 15, wherein the coupling segment includes a hook adapted to engage the hole of the catheter.
The tunneling system according to claim 17, wherein the coupling segment includes a peripheral groove adapted to receive the substantially annular resilient element.
The tunneling system according to claim 19, wherein the pneumatic system includes a suction source disposed in mechanical cooperation with the elongate tunneling member and a plurality of ports disposed about the coupling, wherein the pneumatic system generates a suction force for holding at least a portion of the catheter.
