Abstract
The present invention provides novel methods and compositions for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of cancer in a subject, by administering to the subject a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product.
Claims28
A method for treating cancer in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product.
A method of treating cancer in a subject comprising inducing Wwox expression in at least one cancer cell of the subject.
A method of inducing cell growth inhibition in a cancer cell line comprising inducing expression of Wwox in the cell line.
A polynucleotide comprising:
- a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product;
- and a heterologous promoter operatively linked to the polynucleotide encoding the functional WWOX gene product.
A vector comprising a WWOX gene product expression cassette comprising:
- a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product;
- and
- a heterologous promoter operatively linked to the polynucleotide encoding the functional WWOX gene product.
A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer in a subject, comprising:
- a viral vector, said vector comprising a WWOX gene product expression cassette, said cassette comprising a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product and a heterologous promoter operatively linked to the polynucleotide encoding said functional WWOX gene product;
- and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
A plasmid, comprising:
- a polynucleotide encoding a functional WWOX gene product;
- and
- a heterologous promoter operatively linked to the polynucleotide encoding said functional WWOX gene product.
A method of treating cancer in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutic compound capable of reactivating a WWOX gene.
A method of cancer therapy comprising restoration of Wwox expression in lung cancer cells lacking expression of endogenous Wwox, thereby reversing malignancy.
A method for inducing WWOX cell growth inhibition and apoptosis in lung cancer cells.
