Abstract
Provided are differential antibodies recognizing the cleaved and non-cleaved forms of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and methods of using the antibodies as surrogate diagnostic markers for the presence of active MMPs in cancer, such as growing breast cancers.
Claims2
A method of detecting MMP activity in a biological sample, comprising detecting cleaved galectin-3 in said sample, wherein said method comprises contacting said sample with at least one anti-galectin-3 antibody, and determining the binding of said antibody to a cleaved galectin-3 product.
