Abstract
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for photodynamic treatment of a fungal skin disorder, said pharmaceutical composition comprising a photosensitizer and an enhancer, wherein the photosensitizer is a cationic photosensitizer and the enhancer is chosen from the group of i) an acid, and ii) a metal chelating agent. Such a composition is capable of eliminating both conidiae and hy-phae. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of the pharmaceutical composition.

A pharmaceutical composition for photodynamic treatment of a fungal skin disorder, said pharmaceutical composition comprising a photosensitizer and an enhancer, wherein the photosensitizer a porphyrin macrocycle comprising at least one quaternized nitrogen atom, the enhancer is an acid or a metal chelating agent, and the pharmaceutical composition has a pH of x where 3.5<x<6.
A method for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of a fungal infection, wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises photosensitizer and the preparation involves including an enhancer, wherein the photosensitizer comprises a porphyrin macrocycle comprising at least one quaternized nitrogen atom, the enhancer is an acid, and the pharmaceutical composition has a pH of x where 3.5<x<6.
