Abstract
A technique utilizes a tool to selectively shift flow control devices in a variety of well applications. In one application, the tool is delivered downhole via coiled tubing to selectively deliver treatment fluid and shift valves in a combined well treatment and sand control well system. The tool also can be used to carry a jetting device that can be employed to deliver a non-solids fluid to a desired region of a wellbore.
Claims23
A well system, comprising:
- a tubular structure deployed in a wellbore;
- a plurality of packers deployed in an annulus surrounding the tubular structure to divide the wellbore into isolated sections;
- a plurality of flow valves arranged on the tubular structure, each flow valve being shiftable between a position allowing flow between an interior of the tubular structure and the annulus and a position blocking the flow;
- a plurality of screen assemblies deployed on the tubular structure with at least one screen assembly in each isolated section, each screen assembly having at least one shiftable isolation valve;
- and
- a shifting tool deployed on coiled tubing, the shifting tool having an actuation mechanism that can be actuated to engage and shift selected flow valves or shiftable isolation valves.

A system, comprising:
- a shifting tool sized for deployment through a tubular well structure to shift flow control devices in a wellbore, the shifting tool comprising an actuation mechanism and a jetting device mounted on a tubing, the actuation mechanism being selectively actuatable between an engaged position in which the flow control devices can be shifted and a disengaged position, the jetting device having orifices to deliver a solids-free treatment fluid into the wellbore.
A method to improve production from a well, comprising:
- deploying a tubular structure in a wellbore;
- isolating a plurality of sections along an annulus surrounding the tubular structure;
- performing a well treatment procedure at each section by directing fluid through a flow valve in each section;
- flowing a fluid into the tubular structure at each section through a screen assembly having an isolation valve;
- and
- shifting select flow valves or isolation valves with a tool delivered down into the tubular structure on a tubing.
3 more elements
A method, comprising:
- positioning packers along a tubular to create a plurality of sections;
- mounting a treatment fluid flow valve in each section of the plurality of sections;
- locating a screen assembly in each section of the plurality of sections;
- providing each screen assembly with a valve to control flow through the screen assembly;
- preparing a tool with a jetting device and a valve shifting mechanism;
- and
- moving the tool along an interior of the tubular via coiled tubing.
