The shades includes a flexible and soft frame that can be placed against the face of a jaundiced person. At least one light-absorbing filter capable of filtering phototherapy light to both eyes of the person is affixed to the frame. The light-absorbing filter is a light intensity reduction filter of the blue-to-yellow light or the blue light from the phototherapy light.
