Abstract
Narrow band interference in a received pulsed radio signal is removed by first shifting the narrow band interference to a lower frequency using a non-linear filter, and the passing the shifted signal through a high pass filter before detecting energy in the pulsed radio signal. The pulsed radio signal can be an ultra-wideband signal, and the non-linear filter can use a Teager-Kaiser energy operator.
Claims17
An apparatus for filtering narrow band interference in a received pulsed radio signal comprising:
- a non-linear filter, connected to an antenna for receiving a pulse radio signal, the non-linear filter configured to shift narrow band interference in the pulsed radio signal to a lower frequency;
- and
- a high pass filter, connected to the non-linear filter, the high pass filter configured to remove the narrow band interference.
A method for filtering narrow band interference in a received pulsed radio signal comprising:
- applying a non-linear filter to a pulse radio signal, the non-linear filter configured to shift narrow band interference in the pulsed radio signal to a lower frequency;
- and
- applying a high pass filter, connected to the non-linear filter, the high pass filter configured to remove the narrow band interference.
A method for filtering narrow band interference in a received pulsed radio signal comprising:
- shifting narrow band interference in a received pulsed radio signal to a lower frequency;
- and
- removing the narrow band interference from the shifted pulsed radio signal using a high pass filter.
